(SAN ANTONIO, TX – AUGUST 6, 2018)–– Security Service Charitable Foundation has presented Paws for Purple Hearts with a $5,000 donation that will be used to provide service dogs and warrior canine therapy for wounded service members and veterans.

The first organization of its kind, Paws for Purple Hearts is the world’s only service dog organization for wounded service members and veterans. Through its unique mission to advance human-canine studies, it produces the world’s best dog trainers and helps breed the highest quality service dogs. With one of five headquarters located in San Antonio, Paws for Purple Hearts directly impacts the lives of service men and women living in Military City USA. Locally, the organization has touched more than 2,500 people through their therapy sessions and companion services.

“We are dedicated to improving the lives of America’s warriors facing mobility challenges and trauma-related conditions, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), by providing the highest quality service dogs and canine assisted therapeutic programs,” said Martin Bergamaschi, program instructor for Paws for Purple Hearts. “Security Service’s generous donation is going to help us touch even more lives and bring together the unfailing loyalty of service dogs with the needs of those who have endured tremendous trauma serving our country.”

“We are grateful Paws for Purple Hearts is helping to create a community of healing for our veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep our country safe,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “This donation will provide a much needed resource to help in the healing process for our service members and veterans.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas.
