Great Lakes Credit Union Donates to Help the Youth of Lake County

Bannockburn (IL) – In support of Great Lakes Credit Union’s (GLCU) initiative to back its communities, on September 28, 2018, GLCU Board Member, Jim March, and North Chicago Branch Manager, Leilani Goldsmith contributed $3,000 to YouthBuild of Lake County.

GLCU is proud to support the communities in which its members live. For the third year in a row, GLCU’s Board of Directors adopted an extraordinary plan to give back to its neighbors; Branch Managers of each GLCU location work closely with Board Members to support local charities.

YouthBuild programs across the U.S. are individual nonprofit organizations that provide opportunities for secondary education completion, career pathways training, and transitional services to college, job placement, and follow up support. “YouthBuild Lake County is excited to accept this grant to support our education and career training programs.  The young adults we serve come to YouthBuild eager to learn and build better lives for themselves.  Support from community partners such as the Great Lakes Credit Union is vital to our organization as we help these youth achieve their goals.”, stated Tameka Wilson, Executive Director.

Founded in 1938, GLCU continues to be a growing staple in the community. Today the not-for-profit financial institution serves more than 83,000 members and has over $841 million in assets. GLCU’s corporate headquarters are in Bannockburn with 11 branches throughout Chicagoland. GLCU also belongs to the CO-OP Shared Branching Network where members may access their GLCU accounts at over 5,600 credit unions branches nationwide and at any of the 30,000 FREE CO‐OP Network ATMs. The credit union prides itself in building lifelong relationships and providing financial education for members during all life stages.
