Louisiana Credit Unions Raise Over $53,000 for Local Children's Hospital

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA – More than $53,000 was raised for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital when Baton Rouge Telco Federal, Campus Federal, EFCU Financial, La Capitol Federal, Neighbors Federal and Pelican State credit unions joined together to host the Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament. The 15th annual tournament was held on October 22, 2018, at the Santa Maria Golf Course in Baton Rouge.

Sponsors hosted tents along the course with food, beverages and games for the golfers. With boudin beignets, brisket quesadillas, jambalaya tacos and more, the tents were a hole-in-one feature of the event. Off the course fun included an award ceremony and over 100 door prizes for golfers to win.

“The idea for the Baton Rouge Area Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament started with a simple question over 15 years ago on how credit unions might work together to raise money for our Baton Rouge community. We have worked with Baton Rouge entities like March of Dimes, Capital Area Agency on Aging, Alzheimer Services and Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Foundation to raise money for services that directly impact our area. It is amazing to see credit unions working together to make an impact on a community,” said founder committee member Brian Ainsworth.

The second floor Pediatric Surgery Waiting Area in the new freestanding hospital will be named in honor of the Baton Rouge Area Credit Unions. Over the last seven years, more than $250,000 has been raised for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital through the annual golf tournament.

Fiserv was the headlining platinum sponsor of the event. Other major sponsors of the tournament included:

BRECO Federal Credit Union, CUNA Mutual Group, Kasasa, Louisiana Credit Union League Baton Rouge Chapter, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Cox Communications, Franklin Press, Gallagher Benefit Services

Gulf Coast Office Products, Labarre Associates, Louisiana Federal Credit Union, New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union, Noesis Data, SWBC, Vantage Health Plan, Another Broken Egg Café, Coca-Cola, Community Coffee, Trophy House and Unique Cuisine.
