(Auburn Hills), Mich. – Dec 18, 2018 –  Genisys Credit Union is committed to giving back this holiday season. Through several initiatives, they are making the season brighter for many in their local communities.

“It’s important for us to give back to our communities,” said Jackie Buchanan, Genisys Credit Union’s President, and CEO. “We are very fortunate to be able to support these programs that in turn help our local communities and neighbors in need.”

One of the programs that Genisys supports is the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Coats for the Cold. Each Genisys branch located in Oakland County served as a drop off site for Coats for the Cold during the month of November. Thousands of coats were collected through the campaign and are being distributed by several human service agencies at no cost to the clients.

This year, Genisys staff also adopted several families from Lighthouse of Oakland County and Macomb Community Action. These agencies work to help make holiday dreams come true for families. Employees purchased household items, clothes, toys and gift cards that were then donated to families.

Genisys was also able to support several animal shelters with funds that were collected throughout the year from employees when they wear casual clothes. The casual fund was used to present $500 each to four agencies including Adopt a Pet in Fenton, the Humane Society of Macomb, K9 Stray Rescue League in Oxford and the Royal Oak Animal Shelter. The funds will be used for shelter, feeding and medical care.
