Texas Trust Credit Union Holds Food Drive for Mission Arlington

Arlington, Texas – March 7, 2019Texas Trust Credit Union held an impromptu food drive to aid the Mission Arlington charity, collecting enough food to feed 1,100 people.

During the federal government shutdown in January, Mission Arlington was overwhelmed with more people than normal coming to its food pantry. That increase in demand reduced the pantry’s food supply, which led Texas Trust to spring into action.

Texas Trust distributed collection boxes at each of its Dallas-Fort Worth area branches and within a few days the boxes were overflowing with non-perishable food. The collection boxes were brought to Texas Trust’s headquarters where employees, including executives, Jim Minge and Pamela Stephens, loaded the food into one of Mission Arlington’s delivery trucks.

“Mission Arlington is a blessing to this community and we are grateful that they were there to help our neighbors during the government shutdown,” said Jim Minge, president and CEO of Texas Trust Credit Union. “Our members are great. Anytime we put out a call for assistance they rally to meet the need.”

“These donations helped fill an immediate shortage for our food pantry, said Heather Young of Mission Arlington, “We appreciate how Texas Trust and its members came to our rescue, which allowed us to continue to serve people that turn to us when they have nowhere else to go to provide food for their families.”

About Texas Trust Credit Union

Texas Trust Credit Union was created in 1936 when a group of Chance Vought Aircraft Corporation employees pooled their savings so they could help each other achieve financial goals. Today, more than 117,000 members are served through checking and savings accounts; loans (personal, mortgage, auto, and small business); credit cards; insurance products; and investment services. Texas Trust Credit Union supports local students through its “Spirit Debit Rewards” program. With every eligible swipe of an SDR card, funds are donated to the school or district of the member’s choosing. To date, Texas Trust has donated more than $1.8 million since August 2011. Texas Trust serves members through 21 locations in Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, Henderson, Ellis, Johnson and Tom Green counties.
