Texas Trust Credit Union Awards $8,000 in Scholarships

ARLINGTON, Texas - May 13, 2019 - Texas Trust Credit Union has awarded college scholarships for $4,000 each to two Arlington ISD seniors.

Elena Regalado, a graduate of Martin High School, is the recipient of the Texas Trust Lamanda Higginbotham Education Scholarship. She plans to major in special education at the University of Texas at Austin. Regalado was actively involved in high school, singing in choir, participating in Youth Leadership Arlington, and serving as editor-in-chief of the Warrior Post. She also served as a kindergarten and first grade student teaching intern.

The Texas Trust Lou Nabors Engineering Scholarship was awarded to Sam Houston High School senior Daniel Luna. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of North Texas, or Texas Christian University next year. Luna is a National Honors Society graduate who excelled in soccer and was part of the varsity team that won the district championship this year.

“Elena and Daniel are very deserving recipients of these scholarships,” said Debi Knoblock, assistant vice president of Business & Community Engagement. “We hope these awards will help them pursue their career goals and achieve excellence in their future endeavors.”

The Lamanda Higginbotham scholarship is named for the wife of Texas Trust board member Don Higginbotham. The Lou Nabors Engineering scholarship is in memory of a past board member. Each recipient will receive $1,000 annually for up to four years.
