Service Credit Union and AFFN Donate $3,000 to Landstuhl Fisher House

LANDSTUHL, GERMANY - Service Credit Union and the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN) partnered to donate $3,000 to the Landstuhl Fisher House, which provides a home away from home for families of patients receiving medical care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

The Fisher House program was founded in 1995 to provide free, temporary lodging and support for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers, allowing them to be close to their loved ones during the healing process. Landstuhl is home to two Fisher House locations, located across the street from each other and in close proximity to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which serves military personnel and family members stationed in the European Union. It is also the nearest treatment center for wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and the largest military hospital outside the continental United States.

Service Credit Union has been a longtime contributor to the Fisher House, making financial contributions through AFFN’s matching program. The donation from Service Credit Union and AFFN, an ATM and point-of-sale (POS) network providing the military community with ready access to their funds, will go towards the daily living expenses of military members staying at Fisher House.

“It is our honor to partner with the AFFN to contribute to the Fisher House program, which has truly dedicated itself to its mission of being a ‘home away from home’ for families of wounded soldiers receiving medical care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. We hope that this donation will help make things just a bit easier for the families of wounded soldiers during a difficult time,” said Philip von Streicher, Vice President of Overseas Operations at Service Credit Union.
