Kellogg Community Credit Union Hosts Diaper Drive

Battle Creek, MI - For the third year in a row, Kellogg Community Credit Union (KCCU) is partnering with the United Way to host a Diaper Drive. From June 1st – 15th, diaper donations can be dropped-off at any of KCCU’s thirteen branches throughout West Michigan located in Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Portage, Marshall, Three Rivers, Grand Rapids and Wyoming.

As a community partner of the United Way of Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region (UWBCKR), KCCU is hosting this diaper drive to help them reach their goal of gathering 10,000 diapers to help children and families in our region.  “Building stronger communities and giving back are top priorities for Kellogg Community Credit Union,” stated Tracy Miller, KCCU’s CEO.  “The United Way Diaper Drive is just one way we can help those in need and help keep the babies in our community dry and healthy”.

The Diaper Drive is just one part of UWBCKR’s Live United Summer Tour, a summer-long volunteer effort that challenges the community to accomplish 20,000 acts of kindness for healthy babies and ready readers. Details about the Live United Summer Tour are at UWBCKR’s website, changethestory.org.

“Through its Diaper Drive, KCCU is exhibiting the powerful volunteer spirit at the heart of the Live United Summer Tour,” said Alyssa Stewart, UWBCKR Vice President of Impact and Engagement. “As part of the Tour, we’ve set a goal of gathering 10,000 infant and toddler diapers, along with 5,000 donated books. KCCU will help us take a big step toward the diaper goal.”

Statistics show that as many as 1 in 3 families in the Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids regions struggle to afford enough diapers for their young children. The average infant requires around 80 diapers per week, creating an expense of $1000 per year. This causes stress on the parents, and a health risk for the child. The goal is to alleviate some of the stress by hosting this diaper drive.

KCCU invites everyone in the community to drop off diapers at any of their branch locations where there will be convenient diaper drive bins and/or displays set up in the lobby, so you can simply walk in and drop of your donation.
