Del Norte Credit Union Gives $4,500 to Three Española Non-Profits in a Fun Way

SANTA FE, New Mexico —Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), New Mexico’s hometown financial cooperative was a sponsor of the 2019 A New Normal.Life Health Fest at Valdez Park in Española, New Mexico. The event held on Saturday, July 6th, was an opportunity for Rio Arriba communities to come together to support the end of homelessness and drug abuse in the region. DNCU pledged to donate the money collected in their Cash Machine to Tewa Women United, Hoy Recovery Center, and the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness.

Española Mayor Javier Sanchez and Lauren Reichelt, Health and Human Services Director for Rio Arriba County were tasked to catch as much money as possible in 60 seconds. Combined, they collected $4,500—and DNCU distributed the funds equally among the three organizations.

“What an exciting time for DNCU to show our spirit and mission of Improving Lives in a fun and impactful way” says DNCU CEO/President Chuck Valenti. “The three organizations that were selected as part of this donation embody the vision we have for our communities – coming together to end homelessness and drug abuse begins with focus on our youth. Our philanthropic efforts are focused on improving the lives of the youth of Northern New Mexico, and we know that these funds will go a long way to shape the future of tomorrow.”

“DNCU’s generosity is going to help so many lives in Rio Arriba and beyond. They are a treasure to our community” says Rio Arriva Health and Human Services Director, Lauren Reichelt. “Having the opportunity to participate in the DNCU cash machine to help my community was fun and will have a lasting impact. Thank you, DNCU.”
