Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation Awards $10,000 in Scholarships to Student Members

Basking Ridge, NJ  – The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation today announced the 2019 recipients of three student scholarships, awarding a total of $10,000 to the students.

Committed to strengthening the communities it serves, the Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000 per student to deserving members based on community involvement, academic achievement and extra-curricular activities.

The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship, dedicated to the late Affinity Executive Vice President Robert L. Birkhahn, is awarded to graduating seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree. This year’s recipients include:

  • Jamison Gould of Millstone Township, N.J., will be attending University of Tennessee, Knoxville
  • Jamie Linton of Warren, N.J., will be attending Drew University
  • Elise Leinaweaver of Hackettstown, N.J., will be attending Lesley University
  • Ryan Carnatz of Long Valley, N.J., will be attending Purdue University
  • Dane Schneider of Pottersville, N.J., will be attending Wake Forest University
  • Delphine Aibel of Hackensack, N.J., will be attending Pennsylvania State University

The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship, in honor of Richard A. Romano, Sr., longtime volunteer on the Affinity Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee, is awarded to students planning to enroll, transfer or continue their education at Rutgers University. This year’s scholarship has been awarded to:

  • Kaitlin Cheung of Hackettstown, N.J.
  • Samantha Prevete of Budd Lake, N.J.

The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship is awarded to students planning to continue their degree at a two- or four-year college or university. This year’s scholarship has been awarded to:

  • Catriona Ferguson of Lebanon, N.J., who will be attending Ithaca College
  • Vaishnavi Dhulkhed of Piscataway, N.J., who will be attending Cornell University
