Kellogg Community CU Awards Scholarships to Local Students

Battle Creek/Kalamazoo MI – Kellogg Community Credit Union (KCCU) is pleased to announce the 2019 KCCU College Scholarship recipients. The KCCU College Scholarship provides $1,000 towards tuition fees to students attending an accredited Michigan college or university. After reviewing all the scholarship entries, KCCU would like to congratulate these five deserving recipients who were selected for their outstanding achievements:

Stephanie Reid graduated from Pennfield High School in 2019, where she was involved in many activities such as the robotics team, National Honor Society, marching band, just to name a few. She is active in the community and has served on several committees with the Battle Creek Community Foundation, including the Youth Alliance committee, and Board of Trustees. She will attend Michigan State University where she will pursue a degree in Biochemistry. 

Brandon Lee graduated from Gull Lake High School where he was Captain of the varsity basketball team, and was involved in DECA, an organization that helps prepare future leaders and entrepreneurs for the business world. He will attend Grand Valley State University to pursue a degree in Business.

Dawson Morgan is a 2017 graduate of Bellevue High School.  He attended Kellogg Community College after high school where he was a Student Ambassador, member of Phi Theta Kappa, Honors Society, bible study, and was Spikeball Club President. Dawson plans to pursue a dual major in Business and Aviation Science.

Heidi Gartley is a 2014 Union City High School graduate. Heidi is active in the community and has volunteered over 20 hours at Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes in 2018. She is currently attending Western Michigan University and majoring in Anthropology. 

Jack Lane is a 2019 Climax-Scotts High School graduate where he played varsity football, basketball, and baseball. Jack will attend the University of Michigan to pursue a degree in Engineering. 

KCCU is proud to be able to offer these scholarships. As a credit union, we are founded on the philosophy of ‘people helping people,’ and by offering scholarships to assist young members with the increasing cost of higher education, KCCU is reinforcing its commitment to the financial success of its members.

The Kellogg Community Credit Union College Scholarship Program was developed to help local high school graduates reach their career goals. 2019 marks the thirty-first year of KCCU’s scholarship program, and since its inception they have awarded roughly $155,000 to local students. KCCU’s Board of Directors, Management, and Staff congratulate the 2019 scholarship winners, and thank the many other exceptional students who applied.
