Missoula, MT - Clearwater Credit Union recognized veterans who are studying at the University of Montana this week with a donation of $10,000 to the UM Veterans Scholarship Fund. The purpose of this fund is to reduce the financial barriers of veterans who attend the University. Shawn Grove, director of the UM VETS office notes that “many veterans face a financial strain” when going to school. “Being able to offer funding that bridges the financial gap can make a difference between a veteran student with financial need taking time off from school or finishing their degree.” The credit union's CEO Jack Lawson hopes that Clearwater’s initial gift will inspire others in the Missoula community to also support the fund and help it grow even more. “We are proud and humbled to be doing our small part to help out” says Lawson. What a great way to celebrate Veteran's Day.
