January 2020 – NuMark Credit Union Board Members participated in the Wreaths Across America wreath-laying ceremony on Saturday, December 14th at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. NuMark has a special connection with the organization, because NuMark’s volunteer Board of Directors are all Veterans.
“I have been attending Wreaths Across America ceremonies at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery since 2009 when just a few hundred volunteers placed approximately 1,000 wreaths.” says Former Chairman, Wally Chlipala. “Thousands of volunteers placed 25,000 wreaths this year. We as directors are honored to represent our members who contributed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Wreaths Across America’s mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach, which was truly displayed today.”
The President and CEO of NuMark Credit Union feels the same way. Ann Dubie states, “The wreath-laying ceremony is a powerful event that we are privileged to participate in support of our Veterans. We extend our deepest appreciation to all our Veterans for fighting for our freedom. Thank you to all the NuMark Credit Union members, board members, and staff who contributed to the Wreaths Across America project.”
Overall, NuMark has been working with the organization for 10 years, and has collected over $24,000. Over the last year, NuMark Credit Union has raised $3,800 to support the Wreaths Across America project. NuMark has raised money through a combination of efforts. Throughout the year, American flags are sold and donations are collected during Memorial Day and Independence Day holidays. The credit union matches donations in November. Staff donate weekly to the Wreaths Across America project in exchange for casual days.
Available for sale at all NuMark branches is the NuMark Family Favorites Cookbook, which features over 800 recipes for all occasions. Half the proceeds from sales will go to Wreaths Across America and the other will go to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring our nation’s heroes for their service. For over 20 years, Wreaths Across America have honored veterans in each NuMark Board of Directors at the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
