Sioux Falls FCU Paying Out $1 Million Bonus Dividend!

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - January 16, 2020 – With its loyal members in mind, local financial institution Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union (SFFCU) has announced they gave their members $1 million in a bonus patronage dividend for the third year in a row.

The “It Pays to Sioux Falls Fed” program includes bonus dividends for those SFFCU members who borrowed or saved in calendar year 2019. All members who stand to benefit from the “$1 Million It Pays to Sioux Falls Fed” received their bonus dividend on December 31, 2019.

SFFCU President/CEO Fran Sommerfeld said he sees this as a unique opportunity for a financial institution to show its members some appreciation for their dedication and loyalty. And he pointed out that it’s not something you see very frequently.

“It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our member-owners,” Sommerfeld said. “It’s your money, it’s your credit union—you deserve it. This doesn’t happen in the financial services industry very often—let alone for several years in a row—but our members are that important to us.”

Sommerfeld hopes this is a clear sign to Sioux Falls residents citywide that SFFCU is a financial services provider that truly cares about the people that keep it going. “We love our members,” he said. “And what better way to say that than by showing our thankfulness in our members’ accounts? They are more than worth it.”

Because this announcement was such big news, Sommerfeld was interviewed on the local television show, KELOLAND Living. It’s a great segment that clearly explains some of the differences between credit unions and other financial institutions. See it here.
