Security Service Charitable Foundation $2,500 Donation Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

(SAN ANTONIO, TX –  OCTOBER 16, 2020) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation is aiding in the fight against breast cancer by donating $2,500 to Sandra’s Hope Foundation (SHF). SHF’s mission is to raise community awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection through screening and self-examination. They also encourage health and wellness, and assist families with support and resources to help them through their breast cancer journeys.

“The Security Service Charitable Foundation donation is providing stage four cancer fighters with necessities to lessen their burdens,” said Roxanne Caldera Addicks, president of Sandra’s Hope Foundation. “This is especially important amidst the Covid-19 pandemic as many cancer patients have decreased opportunities for support and employment.”

During Covid-19, SHF experienced a massive decrease in contributions and volunteerism, along with increased requests for assistance as many cancer fighters and survivors are financially impacted by the ongoing pandemic. The donation will be used to provide patients with financial assistance for treatments.

“Breast cancer is never an easy battle and it’s not something you fight alone,” said John McFall, senior vice president of infrastructure & operations in enterprise technologies for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “That is why we are honored to partner with Sandra’s Hope Foundation to support patients emotionally and financially.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
